The good old days are over.  These days, you can’t really just build a website, put it online, and build a system for free.  Social media seems to be a magic button, but actually, not quite.

Free traffic isn’t really free – you do need to spend a lot of time building the traffic, if you want it consistent.  On the other hand, you can’t really scale up free traffic.

Indeed, most people want to make big commissions, and that’s why they are into affiliate marketing.  However, they are not willing to invest, and so they got distracted by ‘free traffic’ methods.

Free traffic methods include things like making a lot of videos and putting them on YouTube, or creating a blog, or writing articles. But free traffic DOES require a BIG time commitment.  If you want a fast turnaround, you need something else.

The good thing about paid traffic is that it is pretty much instant. When you spend some money on an ad, you can monitor how it works, how many clicks you get, how many leads you get, and if it gets you any sales.  Remember, all marketing effort that you spend online are measurable, and hence you can refine and improve based on the data.

On the other hand, you don’t have to spend a huge amount of advertising budget.  You can start with something you can afford and comfortable to spend, even as little as $5 a day.

Still not convinced?  Here are 3 reasons why you should use paid traffic.

Reason 1. Real businesses pay for real advertising.

Do big companies like Apple and McDonald’s only rely on free advertising?  Not at all.  They spend a huge amount on ads.  When they sell their products, they get their investment back.  The key is to get a positive ROI (return-on-investment), not just how much money can be saved.

Reason 2. Paid-traffic is scalable.

If you are just starting out, you should definitely do paid traffic, because it will help you scale your business. If you are trying to rely on free traffic and spending all the time writing blogs, you will never get impressive results.

I am not saying blog writing is useless.  In fact, I am a big fan in blogging.  It helps me build my brand and show my expertise in this area.  However, this should not be the only channel when you run your online business.

Reason 3. Paid-traffic makes you a better sales copywriter.

When you start putting your own money into marketing, you’ll quickly discover how important it is to write a good ad. Writing good ads is some serious top skills.  And the most important part is to learn how to get people to click and leave their email address.  If you learn some basic copywriting skills, it will really pay exponentially over time.

When you think about it, there is no such thing as free traffic, because your time worth more than a lot of money. One way or the other, you will always end up paying for it.
